twin carb linkage notes.

now is where it turns into a lot of boring concepts written down so i don't forget them.

keep the carbs in thier stock alignment. aka floatbowls to the front.

swap the throttle shaft on the LHS carb so the long thread is on the RHS.

poss mount the pivot points on the bottom of the fan shroud near the mount bolt. the cross bar will run under the generator. may need a bell crank and linkage to bridge between the cable and the cross shaft. poss use this to correct for the differences in arm lengths at carb. if mounted to shroud no allowance will have to be made for expansion as would be nessecary with push pull linkages of manifold/aircleaner mounted linkage. less likely to be effected by vibration as smaller moment aka closer to the case than if mounted at the top of the shroud. adjustment and removal access may well be limited in this position. may require manifolds etc removed to access the fanshroud mount bolt above the intake port.

use springs from stromberg stuff as return springs on PCI's. didn't they already have return springs? dig them out if so. does the short ended stromberg spring act as a feturn spring on the main linkage shaft at the pivot point. dig out 142 manual to check how this stuff all mounts on a volvo.

mount arms to travel from 45deg to 135 deg clockwise aka NE to SE if cross bar pulls the linkage down. if a push action used angle TBD, if a reverse Z arangment used, align so that both arms are parrallel to each other as well as perpendicular to the drop linkage when at half travel/throttle.

as far as alignment of differing legnth arms is concerned it will effect the rate of angular movement of the two shafts to each other if the start and finish angles is varied. where is the most control needed? just off fully closed or 1/6 to 1/3 open positions etc? aka where do i want the most angular movement of the cross shaft for the least of the throttle shaft? at what position does the change in anlge of the throttle shaft have the most dramatic effect on the engine?

so many questions........ there is more than that to be considered. i can't even tink of half of them at the moment.

i wonder what i'll be playing with tomorrow. prob not linkages the way my focus is at the moment.

bus lust plus other random things.
now with pictures!
