george reynolds camber compensator, i think it is circa mid '60's but don't know for sure.

george reynolds was from victoria and competed in trials in the mid to late 50's. he raced a beetle at bathurst and circut raced a heavily modified beetle in the early to mid 60's that was impressive enough to be noted in the back of peter noads "tuning volkswagens" book in about '68.

an add for the george reynolds twin carb kit from the January 1965 issue of Modern Motor. courtesy of phil74camper

the manifolds are cast aluminium with no balance tubes. marked LH and RH.

edit. is there any reason the pic's attached aren't showing up here? i've tried cutting and pasting the embedded link and using the insert image icon with both the url and the embedded links. still no joy. is there a different max file size on the forum to the gallery? the files are both a little under 150k. thanks for sorting it out T-34

ken virgin twin carb kit. at a guess circa '66/7 or there abouts

the kit included 2 sets of formed steel manifolds, one for 40hp motors and the other for 1300 sp motors.

ken virgin was from south australia and i believe was a drag racer.

the pics are of a NOS set that that sold on ebay a while back.

OK - to post an image you just need to copy the part in the embed code inside the src tags - ie just the

You can also get this by right clicking the image and selecting 'copy image location' in Firefox

Paste this into the 'image URL' field in the insert image box and you should be good.

monaro motors twin SU kit. for 40hp, from memory they use 1 1/4" SU's. they are a cast manifold with a steel? cross pipe.

pics orig sourced from elsewhere on the net.

i get the pic now, you need to open the image to "original size" first to get the copy image location option.

still to come there are at least 4 types of australian made wide 5 wheels if i can source pics, plus 1 brand of steering wheel again pending the right pics. edit 5 types of wheels.

Yeah, one of my biggest regrets was passing on a roller bearing crank, would love one of those now. Would be perfect for a salt flat racer - high revving = max speed Laughing

Interested to see the wide 5 wheels.

Seems the more avant garde / left field wheels are more desireable nowdays. A few years back if it wasn't an empi 5 or an early fuchs no-one was interested.

Saw some excellent wide 5's a while back - black with polished detailing that looked like 5 petals - almost like a daisy. Awesome!!

Would love a set for my Bus.

a set of 36hp twinport heads of unknown manufacturer now residing in the us.

there are from the same manufacturer if not the actual heads (i'm almost certain they are) that were found on a 36hp at the bottom of a pile of engines in a wreckers in the mid to late 90's in south australia.

Flowers  made by a guy that owns/owned volkspower in melbourne. a few sets were made during the late 60's and a small amount more made in the last 10 years. available in 13 - 15" steel outers with an alloy center.

pic not mine.

Keel/John Sabidusi wheels, 14" steel outers with alloy centers. either make by Keel in south australia in the late60's early 70's or by John Sabidusi a little later. only 2 or 3 sets known of at the moment.

the other sets that i'm looking for pictures of are:

2E wheels, i believe that these are very very early rims (poss mid/late 50's), made to go with one of the australian kit cars. again they are a steel outer with a alloy inner. they looked something like a walker wheel.

unknown brand of pressed steel rim, from memory similar to a fumagalli rim, rumor has it that the owner of a vw shop in sydney was offerred the dies for these in the early 90's but declined due to the cost of having a run made vs the likely interest in them at the time.

unknown brand of 5 spoke wheel with a very large cylindrical centercap cast in as part of the wheel. seen on a silver KG that lives in the same area that i do, i have only seen the car twice in the last few years and never when i have a camera. from memory they cast alloy.

if anyone has pics or other early rims not included please post them.

also pictures of Lukey swivel tip mufflers or Lukey 36hp 4 tip mufflers, maxrob steering wheels to suit vw's or anything else not yet included would be greatly appreciated

Love the look of those 4 exhuast tips - reminds me of a Jaguar E-type. The monaro SU kit also looks pretty awesome - love the way the carbs tilt forwards - very different. Looks good too.

Oh man those are awesome! I'd like to see a cross section of those intakes.

i'm trying to get more info on these but there was a vw supercharger kit made in the late 60's by a sydney man Barry Ekin, he made 40-50 vw kits in total.

it used a godfrey J-75 rootes type blower. these were ex aircraft cabin blowers and were also used in industrial applications. barry sourced a lot of his superchargers from marshall in the uk.

he ran compressor safety valves as blow off valves.

he supplied ex aircraft boost gauges with the kits.

the vw kit was one that he was not very proud of as he considered the manifold design very primitive. he supercharged many many different makes and models of cars, selling kits for around 400 cars over the 10 year period he was playing with superchargers.

it is unknown how many kits survive but they are definently not common.

one is being set up to run in a 36hp challenge LSR car.
