Just a quick introduction, joined a week ago after another member (matt aka choco) put me onto the site.

I'm based in SA, down at port elliot / victor harbor.

I'm the owner of a 1976 8 seater Microbus, stock 2ltr motor which suits my needs as an everyday drive.
His name is Thombie and here he is:

We also own a 1969 beetle called ruby. I was told she has a 1500 but another dubber looked at it and seemed to think it was a 1600, we haven't had her very long and need to fix a few electrical issues before she's getting around as our second daily:
and here she is:

hope to meet a few of you around the place.

Cheers Corey

G'day Corey, welcome to vdubber. Laughing

Nice looking rides there. which one you bringing to Volksfest?

And I got to ask...

...do you have a Vespa?

Mick.

Hey Mick

Thombie will be making the trip to Volksfest, but Ruby will stay home.

Technically I have 3 Vespa's, a 73 150 super, a 74 150 super (both ex pmg) and a 61 GL 150.

The reason I say "technically" is because only 1 of them is ride-able, another I have broken down and the other is still waiting a resto.

here's the one I ride:

150 super

and here is my GL (the old Rat or Resto question mark, hahaha):

vespa GL

Niiiice. Love the GL - ride it as it is I say.

I've got a '59 150 standard, although it's not been out for a while. It's the second one in. Will have a sort through as I think I've got some better pics somewhere.

This was shot on the Lambretta club's 60th anniversary run.

Found another pic. It's a bit old as I now have the spare mounted behind the leg shield, and the rear rack has been removed, but it's pretty much as it is now.

I added the GT trim as I liked the look of it.

I've swapped the barrel and head out to 180cc, the head has had a little work done on it, I've also fitted a race can as well. Now it goes quite nicely. All it really needs is an extra gear, as it's only 3 speed.

59, wow, love it. 180 would go great but yeah I can imagine that 4th speed would be nice. I've had 6 vespa's and all of them have been 4 speeds apart from the GL, which I have never ridden. I'd always intended to restore it but it's only got a little bit of surface rust and would make a great sleeper rat scooter. Might be a cool option.

Yeah, with the 10" wheels and only 3 gears, it really could do with a little more, although it will sit at 60 all day long. I did consider a px250 conversion and swapping to 12" wheels, but kinda glad I didn't.

I would deffo run the GL as it is - it's uber cool. No need for shiny paint - just a fast engine Cool

maybe a PX 4 speed in the GL, that'd do it.

I met up with a bunch of the Lambretta club boys for the Lambretta 60th anniversary, but as I'm so crap with names, couldn't tell you If I met Raph or not. Maybe you'd recognize his scooter?

Some pics of the event...

Nope, I'm too much of a recluse. Haven't ever done a scooter run or hung out with many other classic scooter owners. The VW crew are enough for me ;) hahaha.

Good to see another scooter fan on here.

Dr Who is big in this house too, it's a full family affair.
