And his overwhelming relief when the car is finally delivered to the raceway
with a mere 12 hours to spare.
Cinematographer Rob Scheeren has captured this incredible journey from the

for a unique view of an amazing adventure.

Picked up a pair of early headlights today. These are date coded January '57 so a little newer than my bus but correct for busses from 53-60 so a good score and a reasonable price too. Big thanks to @Choco for putting me on to these. One bulb holder is missing but nothing that cannot be easily sourced.
I also found a good source for glass rear lenses - a fella from Germany who appears to have a whole bunch of rare and hard-to-get lenses for German cars. He has red third brake light lenses...

PORSCHE 356 SPEEDSTER 1500S hardtop 1955 BARN FIND 1500 s
This car was born on 05/03/1955 with chassis number 80510 and was delivered in this signal red with a cream/Black Acella Bast Leatherette interior. Besides the headlights and the changed dashboard gages panel, this car should be completely original and it really looked accordingly. The car was bought in 1962 for $1642 and the previous owner drove it in 4 American states up until 1985. Then it was put away in a barn until 2014. If I am not mistaken the crankshaft bearings of these cars could...

If I am not mistaken the crankshaft bearings of these cars could not handle use on tracks and races and probably that explanes why the car had its engine rebuilt in 1965.

Went down to visit the bus at the shop today now that its back from the blasters. The bus is having the tinworm fixed up by Cooper Pratt. He's cut the sills out and most of the front cab and has started collecting the necessary panels to make it solid again. He also spent some time reshaping the rear corners which had been pretty bashed around.
Overall the bus is not too bad, no real surprises, just the usual rot in the usual places. The cargo area floor is salvageable albeit a little...

Overall the bus is not too bad, no real surprises, just the usual rot in the usual places. The cargo area floor is salvageable albeit a little bashed up, which is good. It's come up surprisingly well from the blasting, I was almost expecting it to dissolve but it's solid enough to leave as-is with some small areas to repair.
I'm pretty stoked to see some progress on the bus after its sat in my driveway unloved for the past 8 years. Things are finally starting to take shape, Who knows, it might even make it back on the road in 2021.
